The Lineage

Three eras of the same thing. The old end is bedrock — PD and Insex are documented to the year, in their own archive and a feature documentary. The middle is the bridge — Peter Acworth's Kink.com, where Insex's own Princess Donna became a defining director. The new end is the hard part — no studios, no contracts, just caption tags, which is the whole reason PRM exists. Sourcing gets thinner as the dates get closer: ORIGINS archive, documented, then hardest to map.

1959

The first canvas

A junior-high art teacher's after-school labs hand PD oil painting and the lexicon of surrealism — "this architecture of phantasmagoria." Looking at the style, "one could glean what is to come."

Insex ORIGINS
1972

"Arrival" — the first bondage photograph

A veteran and undergrad at the secluded family home in upstate New York, exploring what House of Wax had lit in him: a woman in peril, eroticized by clothing. "As if Vincent Price had made a lingerie catalog." Published on Insex.com in 1998.

Insex ORIGINS
1972

Face Hugger

Leather and hardware in the tradition of John Willie; later became the "Make" category on the original Insex site with PD's own detailed drawings.

Insex ORIGINS
1975

Tinker Toy Cage — the revelation

Iron pipes and Kee Klamps. Around the same time PD opens Georges Pichard's Marie Gabrielle — "extra-sensory," a perverse fetish "forged in the history of religious persecution, captivity and slavery."

Insex ORIGINS
1977

The Box

Grounded in Wilhelm Reich's sexology — that sexual love "stood in opposition to fascism," release curing repression. Layered pine shelving fashioned as a second skin; "psychological pupas — the person emerging was somehow changed."

Insex ORIGINS
1980–83

Bag-It hood & the 4ft×6ft oil

The "Bag-It" sensory-submersion hood (1980), then a superimposed 4-foot bound-woman canvas (1983) — photography, painting and bondage fused by hand in a darkroom.

Jul 1995

manINFESTation — bondage goes interactive

A three-part performance at the Trans Hudson Gallery, Jersey City NJ. Live models bound amid digital feedback machines; attendees drove an orgasm simulator with a mouse — her face changing color as she climaxed "if the operator was doing it right." The bridge to the internet.

Insex ORIGINS
late 1990s

"The world's first live online porn show"

Video streaming didn't exist yet, so PD's team pushed a new JPEG every few seconds, chatted over IRC and streamed audio through RealPlayer. Handler: PD. Submissive: Philly, bound, punished and cleaned internally, live. Fifteen years of live shows follow.

Insex ORIGINS
~1997–98

Insex.com launches

A venue to publish nearly three decades of PD's photography, painting and multimedia — "the next logical step up from Usenet." Draws on Japanese bondage-club live-performance tradition. Builder credited only as The Engineer.

Insex ORIGINS
1997–2005

The Insex stable forms

The Insex era proper — the roster that House 04 maps: Princess Donna, Annmarie "912", Liz Tyler "Cowgirl", Betty and dozens more numbered handles. Not scene-only — a documented 24/7 household around PD.

1997

Peter Acworth founds Hogtied → Kink.com

A British finance PhD student at Columbia starts Hogtied.com, soon the Kink.com network — the West-Coast counterweight to PD's East-Coast Insex. Where Insex was one auteur's basement, Kink industrialized it.

2005

Insex.com is forced dark

Post-9/11 financial pressure — credit-card processors and banks cut off under government/obscenity scrutiny — chokes the site off the open web. PD regroups the team as Intersec Interactive to "haunt the erotic dreams once again."

Graphic Sexual Horror
2006

Kink.com buys the San Francisco Armory

Acworth acquires the National Guard Armory as Kink's headquarters and shooting facility — the physical monument of the industrialized era, right as Insex goes dark.

~2008

The bridge: Princess Donna crosses to Kink

Insex's own Princess Donna Dolore becomes a defining Kink.com directorPublic Disgrace, Bound Gang Bangs. This is the actual through-line: an Insex sub becomes the Dom-side auteur of the next empire. One household feeds the next.

2009

Graphic Sexual Horror — the documentary

The film that puts names and consent questions to the whole Insex operation, and the primary source for House 04. Once transcribed, its testimony feeds the household map directly.

2017

The Armory stops filming

Kink.com ends production at the Armory; Acworth steps back as the studio model gives way to creator-owned platforms. The center of gravity leaves the studios for good.

The creator feed — the hard part

No studio, no contracts, no credits. @CuioGeo's amateur stable, @subgirl0831's swinger circle, OnlyFans-locked clips — households you can only reconstruct from who tags whom. The lineage is unbroken; the paperwork is gone. This is why PRM exists.
